Jack Turner

Founder

Jack TurnerJack has lived in Japan for over 10 years, including 4 years fully immersed in Kyoto University where he studied law.

In 2005 Jack co-founded Japan Inc Holdings (JIH) in Tokyo, Japan. As COO of the group, in just 4 years, JIH became Japan’s leading nationwide English media and consulting group. Turner managed projects such as an exclusive JV partner search for Dow Jones’ Wall Street Journal, launching japan.wsj.com in December 2009 through a JV with Softbank Investment (SBI) Holdings, and an exclusive Japan M&A acquisition search for SunGard, the world’s largest financial software company.

Jack also project managed and procured finance for JIH’s acquisition of Crisscross KK (now Metropolis KK) as part of a market consolidation strategy, which subsequently included the acquisition of the Kansai Scene, and the production of the American Chamber of Commerce Journal. JIH now prints over 2 million copies per year.

JIH closed another 10 finance and M&A and investment deals between 2005 and 2009. These primarily involved cross-cultural and cross-language negotiations between one Japanese and one overseas party, or on behalf of foreign companies in Japan who have required assistance liaising effectively with Japanese companies and financial institutions.

In 2004, Jack joined a Government Economic Development Agency (EDA) in New Zealand. As part of his duties, he was also responsible for Japanese companies and VIPs with an interest in New Zealand, and was subsequently seconded briefly to the New Zealand Embassy in Tokyo.
